Title: 2D Technical Director & Animator
Team Size: 6
Production Time Frame : 3 Months
Roles: Character Rigging, Scenes Setup, Character & Assets Management, and Character Animation
The project was an educational cartoon series for kids regarding to the Jewish bible, and the two major characters are Josh the young kid, and Rabbi the spiritual mentor from the bible.
The production progress was great, and the story has a lots of fun too. Different from some educational program trying to transfer all information from the book, this cartoon series contains much more action and humor by using fast editing camera shots, dynamic transition and transfer between all these imaginary worlds!
The show was animated in simplified puppetry art style, which still a lot of work for a small team in a tight schedule. However, the team works so great together that we almost completed two episodes in 3 month, and each of them were 7 minutes long.
As TD of the project, my role mainly focusing on character rigging, lip sync creation, and scene setup, which all these efforts were to ensure time saving for animators to concentrate on animation production without any technical roadblocks. In this regards, to ensure best result delivering animatable characters, except from general character rigging, turn around and lip syncs, different character might require different style of rigging as well, and same time even the same character could use multiple rigging styles due to different costumes or variation.
Moreover, I was in-charge of about 80% of animation scene setup/layout for animators, I was also involved in many scenes as animator as well. With that been said, as animator, I was in-charge of camera movement animation, character & prop animation, lip sync, and VFX animation.
